Stop Promoting the Dhinchak-ness

Music has been around for centuries helping people what they couldn't express by saying. It is also known to change moods, uplift spirits and take them to the girth of the sadness as well. Music is not just for entertainment. It has also been used by artists to convey social messages and talk about the burning issues to stir up the feeling of rebellion in masses.

There once was an era when really meaningful songs were being produced and composed which to this day are listened to, enjoyed and reminisced by millions of Indians. Fast forward couple of decades, songs that used to live as long as for a fortnight were being composed and artists who shouldn't be making money off their so called songs were getting the limelight.

Yes, I am talking about artists like Taher Shah, Dhinchak Pooja etc. In today's age if you want to get quick limelight, your best bet is becoming a YouTuber and putting out consistently high quality content for public to watch so that your channel eventually builds up and starts getting recognition from the right kind of people that will help you make it big in this world. Ever since Reliance Jio  (a telecom operator in India) came along everything that was available online got opened up for many Indians. Musicians now more than ever had a chance of reaching out to their audiences. But with good quality music videos there are shoddy content available on YouTube as well.

We Indians promote anything and everything that is put up on the video streaming giant that is YouTube. probably also one of the reasons why age old tried and tested formulas of love story is still going strong in Bollywood and producers are minting notes using this formula. Now since the parameters for being able to make money from the YouTube remains the same, artists like Dhinchak Pooja are getting what they initially set out for. Recently she has released a new song called Dilon Ka Shooter which has gotten 4.8 millions views within 5 days from uploading the video. The lyrics and music of which is in such a poor taste that its best not to watch the video.

Think of all the eyes she is gonna grab and the money she'll make from these Viral Videos if I may say so. What grieves me is that she is capitalizing on what ever she has got while the real talent which has given perhaps months in making a video and gave their all to every video they put up has around 10-20k subscribers on their channel and gets some 100k views on each of their video.

Here's my request to anyone and everyone who is reading this blog post, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE STOP PROMOTING SUCH MADNESS. UNDERSTAND WHATS WORTH YOUR TIME AND ENERGY AND WHAT SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED.
